Feelin’ Good

It’s been another busy Saturday.  The weather is to die for and everyone is out and about.  The sunshine makes everyone happier and friendlier.  I’ve been enjoying every moment.

I started this glorious day with a scenic seven mile run.  I had my traditional toast and peanut butter for breakfast.  It’s my favorite way to fuel – while reading blogs, of course!

We did the same loop as last week.  It felt so good to run without a million layers.  I didn’t even need gloves! We ran a bit more slowly today, but everyone felt great.  I keep reminding myself that it’s important to incorporate runs like this into training.  Sometimes I get a little overzealous and max myself out on every run…I’m learning! I was a little annoyed with the Garmin this morning because it took forever to locate satellites, so it didn’t give us an accurate read on our run.  I do know that we completed about 7.1 miles in 1:06.  Our pace stayed between 9:00/mi – 9:40/mi.  Great run!

I came home and refueled with Vanilla Oikos, granola, and a tangelo.  I would’ve loved a Green Monster, but I needed to make it snappy and this was just the ticket!

Post-run.

I raved about the Wintertime Farmer’s Market all week and rounded up some shoppers for today’s outing.  My gram, mom, and close friend, Jane took the trip with me.  We had a lovely afternoon.  All of the browsing made us hungry, so we found a great bakery and got some lunch.

They had plenty of great options, but I couldn’t resist this slice.  I know, I know – lay off the pizza, Beck! But it was topped with sweet potatoes and gorgonzola!  Sweet potatoes and pizza – two of my very most favorite things!  Remember the cupcakes my mom was eyeing last week?  Well, this time she took the plunge and I took a couple bites.  It was the perfect little carrot cake cupcake, topped with a layer of cream cheese frosting.

After lunch, we headed home.  I tried to mix it up and get some different things this week, but I also restocked on some favorites.

The fruit - apples, tangelos, and grapefruit.

The Vegetables - mutant carrots, parsnips, and sweet potatoes.

The Dairy - Rhode Island fresh eggs.

I love the fresh produce at the farmer’s market, but I get even more excited about the speciality items.  It’s so fun to check out what local business are cooking up.  I picked up some good stuff today – fresh strawberry jam, “Wicked Good” raspberry chocolate jam, and whole wheat pizza shells.  I can’t wait to mix these jams into a steaming hot bowl of oats – you saw that coming!
